This Must be Saturday.

It must be Saturday
Greetings to all in the Quarry today.

We need to get right to it today. Medicare analysts have submitted their annual report to The White House and the results are fascinating. They have determined that the cost of the new healthcare plan will place an ever increasing economic burden on the economy. Doesn’t that differ from the estimated billions in savings we were all promised with the healthcare bill? Maybe we should be shocked, but if we are does that mean we were naïve in the first place to think our esteemed leadership would pass a bill that would cost us more money? Just sayin’

Welcome to Utah. Ronnie Gardner, 49, will be executed soon. Western style. Good old fashioned firing squad. The amusing part is: This was his choice. Utah allows death row inmates to choose their manner of execution. Gotta love that. You provide the lifetime of entrees that are not healthy for society and Utah provides the desert cart.

RIP Hair Band #1- From the files of never going away predictions- Poison lead singer Bret Michaels was rushed to the hospital with a brain hemorrhage. Get well soon Bret. Celebrity Apprentice, Rock of Love season 18 and every other reality show will never be the same without you. No bad wishes for Mr. Bret, just a side swipe at the professional choices of late. We all know he will back and acting again soon. Because that is what we all want right? right?

Lindsay Lohan- where will she land next. My Guess season 7 of celebrity rehab. Is there even one producer in Hollywood that would let her read, let alone give her a role right now? She has been reduced to stealing watches to make the fish wrap. Unbelievable yet not that unpredictable.

Be glad we have the medical technology we do her in America. Saw on Fox news that in Cambodia the doctors (term used loosely) utilize cow urine as a treatment. Visualize this scene in your head. Swollen foot from a twisted ankle. You head to the redi clinic in your neighborhood Walgreens and the recommendation is you soak your foot in cow urine. Now sit back, take a deep breathe and vehemently complain about the costs of medical care in America. Done? Somehow much of the passionate vitriol has evaporated.

Medical use of Psilocybin for cancer patients is winning converts. Timothy Leary and Ken Kesey may have been onto something after all. In a controlled environment Psychedelics have demonstrated effective relief for many of the psychological traumas that are associated with severe cancer protocols. Patients in the studies claimed to feel much more productive, confident and ready to face their harsh treatment regimen after a single dose. Amazing, Knowledge that the ancient Indian tribes took for granted is now being investigated by the scientific minds of today. Ethnocentrism in its truest form.

How about them Rays? Early with many miles to go but how them Twins looking? Still looking at some possible wagering from the Up North contingent? At the very least, speak up to claim some bragging rights. Climb out on the skinny branch and state your case!

Lastly, My Cowboys moved up in draft to obtain Dez Bryant. So long Roy Williams. You cost use 74,345.00 per catch (nonscientific calculation) for 2 seasons. Time to end that failed experiment. Of Course Mr. Bryant arrives with his own baggage. We shall see, could be the best move up we have seen on day one in a while or another waste of $$

Enjoy your Saturday. Tell your neighbor’s hello, even the ones who park wrecks in their yard and walk their dogs in your yard! (Oh yeah, that’s my neighbors) anyway. Care for someone who needs it today even if they act like they don’t. Appreciate what you have and forget about what you have not. Thanks for being a part of the solution.

Random Weekend Thoughts

Welcome to the weekend! Rather bleak on the news front this week unless you are flying anywhere near Iceland. If you are thereabouts you will be spending some time washing the soot out of your hair. Good to know the volcano over there is as agitated as the rest of the world is with that bankrupt speck of an island.

Thinking it may be time to add some more polls into the quarry. Assuming everybody watches something other than American Idol may be wildly unfounded but let’s try anyway.
TOP 5 Sitcoms of all-time.
1. All in the Family
2. Seinfeld
3. The Office
4. MASH
5. Sanford and Son
Honorable mentions go to Frazier, Cheers, Sunny in Philly and The Jefferson’s
This list does not included animated shows. If so, the Simpsons and South Park would have been considered.

Weigh in with your picks. Let’s generate some lively debate over nothing important. No better way to expend our valuable time on the weekend!

Couple of more serious issues for those who prefer less frivolous utilization of your valuable time.

So long Eric Massa. Your resignation was long over due. Your misuse of public confidence and pathologically contemptible behavior is to be condemned. This is not who we need managing our great country.

3 from the Who Knew dept?

Ricky Martin NEEDED to come out?
Steven Seagal was that desperate?
Goldman Sachs was raping and pillaging through backroom deals while taking TARP funds?

Funny, like a Tarantino movie…
19 year old at MI State Univ. is arrested for possession of 79 thongs he had stolen from coed dorm rooms. Crazy kook in waiting or Frat Hero? You make the call.

Lastly, progressive fundamentalists nationwide are advocating “Faith diets” What a revelation! If you think, meditate, even pray instead of shoving Twinkies down your talking hole you will lose weight. Amazing.. You read it here first. Slowing down your consumption contributes to weight loss. Bet you didn’t know the Quarry would be such a source of competent medical advice. Just an extemporaneous reward for the loyal fans.
Soapbox warning:

Just had to SHOUT this quote.
"There is no crueler tyranny than that which is perpetrated
under the shield of law and in the name of justice."
-- Charles-Louis de Secondat

For the thinkers out there, we must band together and return to fiscal, political and ethical relevance on a daily basis. For the Doers among us your actions must manifest themselves in fruitful endeavors aligned with those same principles. Our country, our children’s future and our lives depend on this.

OK. Soapbox removed:

To the Way Up North Crew- who will have a better season Twins or Rays? Let us hear your extravangantly researched rationale so we may argue over ridiculously immaterial stats. I’m saying Rays.

Have a super weekend. Treat yourself to something nice today. Have an ice cream; Take a walk in the park. Think wonderful thoughts and they will come true.

Out till next time...

Welcome back Mr. Saturday night

A busy week in the quarry. May be impossible to narrow down the abundance of ridiculous to a menagerie that will be worthy of review. Anyway, here are the highlights or, as it is. lowlights. You decide.

Papal letter uncovered. From 1985, yes 1985, by even my distorted mathematical skills is an aged document. Not that we should be shocked, the brain trust in Rome had decided to cover-up the misdirected affections of a pedophilic priest for the sake of the overall church’s edification. Yes for real… Thought it best NOT to defrock a pedophile. Let that settle into the gray matter for a sec. Because that’s not all. This year that same group of intellectual degenerates drafted a Layman’s Guide with the topic being procedures to follow in the event of allegations pertaining to pastoral interventions of the sordid variety. Really, did you catch that? They now have a journal of instructions to follow IF there are allegations within the parish. Wouldn’t all of us in the quarry concur that a written guide is redundant? Maybe just remove the sadistic practitioner and apply all possible human effort towards assisting the children to mature without exposure to those distorted perverts? What are your thoughts?

Approval rating for Obama. Recent polls indicate, at best, fifty percent of the country feels the administration is doing the right thing with the economy. Torrential ambivalence is raining down on us all. Where are all the die hard TV viewers who came off their sofas in droves to proclaim the incredible forthcoming success of “change for America”. Possibly they had some ambitious plans to go locate a job the day the polls were matriculated. Sadly nothing out there worthy of their available skill sets sent them back to the game shows, soaps and chastising the advice of Dr Phil. Washington will extend unemployment benefits for them another 6 months. No worries.

For my far northern fans I would be negligent had we not discussed the recent litigation regarding the combative Lakota’s. For anyone interested, we can begin a UND mascot naming contest now. My choice “Frozen Snowbunnies” has an unmatched ferocity and will be tough to beat. Feel free to weigh in with your choices however no promises the judging will be unbiased.

In the Daring vs. Stupid category. Masticating sushi at an Asian buffet. Assuming it was created sometime in 2010 one can hope that intestinal parasites will be avoided. Won’t do that again, regardless of any wagered incentive. Once is lucky, twice is idiotic.

Goodbye to the legend we all remember; Malcolm McLaren
Many despised Punk rock, the by product of the industrial malaise of central England in the late 70’s. However, loved or hated, the psychotic cacophony will live forever. No true music aficionado can deny the impact that short but intense period had on the American music scene for many years to follow. Some ridiculed Malcolm as a materialistic racketeer and some revered what he created. Either way, he was a polarizing and recognizable contributor to a genre that will live forever whenever and wherever there are youth, guitars and idle time. Three chords, angst and anger are all it took to create the legacy.
RIP Malcolm.

Liz to wed. Listen up # 9. We hope you treat our version of royalty with the respect she deserves. If we determine otherwise we will hang you in effigy from the National Enquirer building. Please take extremely good care of our priceless legend or we will be forced to utilize more cover shots of Jen Aniston which has already approached morbid redundancy. The public outcry will be disastrous for sales.

Hope for a successful November and all months in between. Remember what Sweaty Teddy said “Rather have a dead offender than a repeat offender” Take care of yourselves and your fellow man. Create an aura for good and fill the souls of those around you. Enjoy your weekend.

Big Bad Monday

Monday night in the Quarry. Smoe strange goings on this week. goings on.. what is that? must have reverted to coal mine english.

Our dear friends in Pakistan are not only harboring and abetting the Taliban but now they have raised the stakes and sent a bomber to our consulate that detonated killing several and wounding others. Great news. Seems like their gratitude for our economic assistance for the last gazitrilbillion years (that equals many) has been running dry.Maybe it is time to let them all just fend for themselves? See how many of each tribe they kill off before deciding to take a break for a century or so. Then we can send them some aid ATW. That stands for after the wackos.

Khloe- you know the big K- Has now resorted to flashing her generous gifts at paparazzi.. Lamar, what were you thinking.. you let her leave the remainder of her wardrobe intact? You know better than that, she wont get any mileage out of that stunt. next step will be season 2 Jersey Shore. or better yet. nanny for the Wild sisters. That will get you back on the covers of those ultra serious news magazines.

Tiger vs. Jesse James. Anybody else feeling there maybe a bit of hypocrisy related to the coverage of these two. Very similar in action and the media has done a complete 180 degree turn. Not fair. Jesse went to rehab too. He should be absolved, hold a presser and go back to building bikes. But no.. not so fast Mr Tattoo boy. You will stand accused and may never get your starlet wife back even though you were so very sorry. Didn't he just feel "entitled" also? C'mon it's a disease right?

Go Bulldogs- It would be such a fantastic year if they can finish off the Dukies tonight. What a story. 2nd place just won't feel right for this team with what they did to get here.

From the super weird dept. Long lost boyfriend of Olivia Newton John-- who dissappreared off a boat 9-- yes I said 9 years ago has re-surfaced alive and well. Wow, how bad was it living with her? had to fake his death? that could be called extreme.. Or it could be something as simple as taxes but that sure was not as much fun to think about.

Check out www.weirdyear.com on Tuesday- My short story--is the front page. Put this at the end of the post so it wouldnt be too boastful.

Take care of yourself and remember you are always better off than the next guy if you truly believe you are. Stay in tune with your body and your mind and listen to the subtle signs that say, get off the sofa and into the quarry!

Friday - a gray one- not quite black

Over a week since last post. All of us in the quarry need to throw some rocks.

Due to my negligence there is much to cover.

Nancy Pelosi causes flashbacks of "A Clockwork Orange". Can't turn my head from the screen. Feel like Malcolm McDowell and will present nausea symptoms when she comes on the TV. When can we bring back a large whitehaired lovable hack like Tip O'Neill?

Last comments on the demise of my beloved Orange. Many of my sport junkie compadres claim that coach should go. My plan is keep him recruiting, he is a master. Pass the game prep to Hopkins and see if he can avoid these let downs. We bring a top 20 team to the tourny every year and seem to underachieve. Not right to beat anyone up now during the "day after" humiliation but maybe we can tweak our responsibilities to reach the hallowed title again. Feels like a drive-in date and we only held hands.

From all reports we are all about to lose a treasured icon. Since Rebel Without a Cause in 1955 Dennis Hopper has led us on a path of deeply personal discovery. His roles have been diverse, creative and always powerful. In some cases he carried a lousy script on his personality alone. Prostate cancer is currently giving him a nasty ride.I for one will always remember "Blue Velvet" and Easy Rider". His legacy in film was dynamic. All the best Dennis!! get well soon. When the time does come the standard line "you will be missed" seems woefully inadequate.

From Ludicrous Rd.-- Islamic judges have ruled it illegal to post any comments relative to their policy of amputation on social internet sites. At the very least they should legislate tongue removal for such egregious acts. In fact we should all go onto FB and start a forum group on amputation. Of Course, per the clerics this will not just result in corporal punishment but likely hurt our chances for eternal rewards with virgins and such.. Oh Well..

Have a super weekend. Remember life is too short to have enemies.Laugh at least twice today. First one doesn't count. Curiosity didn't kill Tom but it sure made Jerry pissed off.

Everything Tuesday

For all you sports junkies out there March Madness is here.Expect some opinion on these games that will annoy most fans (unless of course you are a Cuse fan!)As noted in previous posts, watch out for the Big East. 4 teams in Elite Eight is the Mac's prediction. Good to see the FL teams make it but hope they enjoy their flights home. One and done!

Serious issue in the Who is Craziest category.. Red Shirts in Thailand are donating blood to throw at the current administrative offices. Protesting elections is one thing but may be tough to accept complaints from bald dudes in dresses. Flat out disturbing that they cant find pants. Maybe the next president can pass some wardrobe litigation.

Check out GQ- Recruited Rielle Hunter for a photo shoot. Wait.. quote- She was horrified at the provocative photos that were published. Was her presence not required at the photo session? She came out of her cave to discover that GQ is trying to sell mags? Favorite shot: in a men's dress shirt hanging out with the muppets. What wonderful imagery. Those copies will fly off the shelves.
Through all this the Edwards family keeps wondering. What are the Obama's having for dinner in the White House tonight?

Finally, the house Dems are about to blow up this nonsensical healthcare reform bill. Even Pelosi, the charming and articulate snakecharmer cannot pull this train wreck from the muck. Tires are stuck in legislative manure. Her own house members are trying to fight off any decision until Nov. at which point most of them will be gone, the GOP will be back in and we can wipe this silly idea from the national landscape.Hopefully one day a productive bill will come along that works for all. Regrettably this is not it.

Have a great week. Share what you have, love who need you; for the benefit of all.

Lots To Rant About

Too long since last written ventilation. Irrepressible need to cover a few issues. So hang in there for the ride!

Tiger- Saw that People mag interviewed one of his girlfriends from his Stanford days. She said he was a great guy 10 years ago and was a little nerdy. Really.. Shocking at it may seem to us in Mac land. He golfed for 4 hours everyday and cared about nothing other than the game. The point is-- what the he$% kind of news gathering organization will chase down a girl friend from 10 years ago? Are our current lives that banal and devoid interesting celeb gossip. They should all just be reading ALL Things is what I say.

Observed a cool survey on CNN. Top ten geekiest songs. Thought the 1st choice of Blinded me with Science by Thomas Dolby was a fine selection. Everybody jump in on this one. Lets get interactive.

Here's another poll. Top 5 sidekicks in a Sitcom.
my 5-- Favorite first!
1. Dwight Shrute- Rainn Wilson
2. George Castanza-Jason Alexander
3. Perry Cox- John C McGinley
4. Randy Hickey- Ethan Suplee
5. "Norm"- George Wendt

Jump in and offer some of your favs... Just a hint.. my runner up was Mike Stivik...

Doesn't even the word dysentery make your butt scream for help. Cant imagine the fun that bacteria must be

Events that make you go HHHMMM.??..
Roethlisberger just hired the attorney that helped Ray Lewis get acquitted- Spending HUGE $$ to avoid a case that he claims is BS??

If you have been watching any conference tournament games it is painfully obvious that the NCAA tournament should have 10 Big East teams. Any team at .500 or better in conference would crush everybody in the mid major conferences. Look for 4 teams from Big East in Elite 8.

Tried to watch a hockey game- woke up in 3 hours with drool on my pillow.. No Wonder they are secure in the knowledge that VS network will show the games. No other network would pay for that. Cant even imagine what the ratings look like for their time slots. May not beat out reruns of Moesha.

Lastly--RIP Carey Haim. You finally got what you wanted. Front page of Yahoo news. Too bad it was for all the wrong reasons. Parents out there, keep your kids feet on the ground. Only bad things come to those who follow the random decisions determined by the machine. Chase only what will reward the soul.

Remember give something back today. We are all so very fortunate.

till next post.
